چکیده
Cone penetration testing (CPT) is a cost effective and popular tool for geotechnical site characterization. CPT consists of pushing at constant rate an electronic penetrometer into penetrable soils recording cone bearing (qc), sleeve friction (fc) dynamic pore pressure (u) with depth. The measured qc, fs u values are utilized to estimate soil type associated properties. A method from measurements the Soil Behavior Type (SBT) chart. SBT plots resistance vs ratio, Rf [where: = (fs/qc)100%]. There distortions in which can result erroneous plots. specific depth blurred or averaged due qc being strongly influenced by within 10 30 diameters tip. qcHMM algorithm was developed address blurring/averaging limitation. This paper describes occur when obtaining association blurring significant errors calculated values. outlines novel highly accurate ratio estimates. fc optimal filter estimation technique referred as OSFE-IFM algorithm. mathematical details outlined this along results challenging test bed simulation. simulation demonstrates that derives estimates Optimal subsequent behavior type.

Friction Models and Friction Compensation
Friction occurs in all mechanical systems,e.g. bearings, transmissions, hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, valves, brakes and wheels. Friction appears at the physical interface between two surfaces in contact. Lubricants such as grease or oil are often used but the there may also be a dry contact between the surfaces. Friction is strongly influenced by contaminations. There is a wide range of p...
متن کاملFriction Compensation for Dynamic and Static Models Using Nonlinear Adaptive Optimal Technique
Friction is a nonlinear phenomenon which has destructive effects on performance of control systems. To obviate these effects, friction compensation is an effectual solution. In this paper, an adaptive technique is proposed in order to eliminate limit cycles as one of the undesired behaviors due to presence of friction in control systems which happen frequently. The proposed approach works for n...
متن کاملOn Friction Compensation without Friction Model
This paper presents a new methodology for friction compensation that is not based on any friction model. This is done by using finite-terms Fourier series to approximate the friction term. Updating laws for the coefficients of the series are easily derived from a Lyapunov approach to guarantee asymptotic convergence of the tracking error. Computer simulations are then proposed in which friction...
متن کاملGradient-based estimation of Manning's friction coefficient from noisy data
We study the numerical recovery of Manning’s roughness coefficient for the diffusive wave approximation of the shallow water equation. We describe a conjugate gradient method for the numerical inversion. Numerical results for one-dimensional model are presented to illustrate the feasibility of the approach. Also we provide a proof of the differentiability of the weak form with respect to the co...
